Westimmo (“we”) is a real estate agency based in Mauritius. This page explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it and what your rights are.

2. The data we collect

When you contact us

Contact form, brochure request, viewing request: first name, last name, email address, phone number, country of residence and the content of your message. This is the information you choose to send us.

When you interact with us on Facebook or Messenger

If you comment on one of our Facebook posts or write to our Page, we process:

• your public name as displayed by Facebook, and the content of your comment or message;
• the conversation identifier assigned by Facebook (a technical identifier specific to our Page, which cannot be used to identify you elsewhere);
• the post and, where applicable, the Facebook group from which you contacted us.

We use this solely to reply to you, send you the details of the property you are interested in along with the relevant agent’s contact details, and follow up on your enquiry. It is never sold, nor used for advertising purposes.

When you browse the website

Technical connection data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) recorded by our host for security and statistical purposes.

3. Why we use it

• to answer your enquiries and present properties matching your search;
• to send you the documents you requested (brochures, detailed fact sheets);
• to follow up on your property project;
• to improve the website and keep it secure.

The legal basis is your consent (forms, exchanges on social media) or our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you initiated.

4. How long we keep it

• contact and brochure requests: 3 years from the last exchange;
• Facebook and Messenger exchanges: 12 months from the last message;
• server technical logs: 12 months.

5. Who has access

Your data is accessible to the Westimmo agents handling your enquiry. It is also hosted or transmitted by the following providers, acting on our behalf:

• LWS (France) — website and database hosting;
• Activimmo — property listing management software;
• Meta Platforms — where the exchange takes place on Facebook or Messenger, in accordance with Meta’s privacy policy.

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

6. Cookies

The website uses cookies necessary for it to function (session, language preference) as well as audience measurement cookies. You may refuse or delete them at any time from your browser settings; some features of the site may then be degraded.

7. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2017 of the Republic of Mauritius, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data.

To exercise these rights, write to contact@real-estate-mauritius.mu. We respond within 30 days.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius or, if you reside in the European Union, with your country’s supervisory authority.
