How to choose your web agency in Mauritius

A few checks prevent most unpleasant surprises. These are the points that really matter:

1. Start with your needs, not the agency’s catalogue. A corporate website, an online store, a real-estate agency website connected to management software and a Google Ads campaign do not require the same skills. An agency specialising in SEO is not necessarily the best placed to build the website, and vice versa.
2. Open websites it has delivered. Browse two or three projects on mobile, then test them with Google’s free tool PageSpeed Insights. A slow or unreadable mobile website is a bad sign, whatever the sales pitch.
3. Speak to a client. Ask for a reference you can call. Online ratings help, but check how many reviews they are based on and over what period: a score built on around twenty reviews says less than an average built up over several years.
4. Check what belongs to you at handover. A domain name in your name, administrator access to the website, backups and, depending on the contract, source code: without these, changing agency later becomes expensive. • a property catalogue with search criteria (area, type, budget) and a dedicated page for each property, with a permanent web address;
• property listings fed from your management software (CRM) or through a feed, so you never enter them twice or leave a sold property online;
• a valuation form and a dedicated page for owners looking to sell, which can generate mandates;
• property pages that Google can read: clear titles, captioned photos and structured data;
• a multilingual version, at least in French and English, with listings reviewed by someone fluent in the language.
