A retired non-citizen is defined as a person who is not a citizen of Mauritius and who is 50 years of age or older.

1. A non-citizen retiree must make an initial transfer of at least US$1,500 or its equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency at the time of issuance of the OP to his/her local bank account in Mauritius.
2. Thereafter, the non-citizen retiree must transfer at least USD 1,500 per month or a total of at least USD 18,000 per year or its equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency during the 10-year validity of the residence permit.
3. At the end of each year, the non-citizen retiree shall submit to the Economic Development Council proof of transfer of funds to his/her local bank account.

Right to invest for non-citizen retired
The holder of a residence permit as a non-citizen retiree may invest in any business provided that:
– he/she is not employed in the company
– that it does not manage the company
– he or she does not receive a salary or business benefits from the company.

To be noted:
The non-citizen retiree must also provide information about other residences he or she may have in other jurisdictions, including tax residences. This information will be shared with the Mauritian tax authority in order to comply with the current Common Reporting Standard (CRS) adopted by the Republic of Mauritius.
